DEAI is a two-year Master’s programme offered by five European higher education institutions. Students will study in Belgium and Spain during the first two semesters, and for the third semester they will have the opportunity to choose between specialisations offered in Austria, France and Italy.  In the fourth semester, they will write a Master’s thesis at one of the five participating universities. The figure below describes this mobility scheme.

Flowchart showing the structure of the two-year master’s program in Data Engineering (DE) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), organized by semesters.

1st semester: “Fundamentals I” at ULB (Belgium).

2nd semester: “Fundamentals II” at UPC (Spain).

Summer of 1st year: Two sequential activities: a “European DE and AI Summer School (eBISS)” organized by one partner institution, followed by a “DE and AI Summer of Code” organized by all partner institutions.

3rd semester (Specialisation): Students choose one of three tracks:

“Knowledge-Driven Data Management and Intelligence” at TUW (Austria),

“Business, Economics, and Financial Data Science” at UniPd (Italy),

“Data and Intelligence for Heterogeneous Systems” at UCBL (France).

4th semester: “Master’s Thesis” completed at any partner institution.

Final event: “Master’s Thesis Defences and Graduation Ceremony,” organized by one partner institution.

Arrows indicate a top-down progression through semesters, with branching in the third semester for specialization and convergence again for the thesis.
